Atlanta Categories Of Health Insurance

Health insurance does not stop at traditional insurance (fee for service plans) or at managed care (HMO/PPO plans) – there is more to it than meets the eye. Here are the other categories of insurance you must consider before jumping on the usual health insurance schemes:

Medicare is the government's health insurance plan for those over 65 years and for specified disabled Americans. Medicare is divided into two parts – hospital insurance and supplementary medical insurance, which pays for doctor's fees/supplies and some healthcare services. Hospital insurance comes free, but the supplement part carries a premium. Medicare's supplement insurance plan does not cover nursing home care, long-term home care and prescription drugs. Retired and diasabled Americans consider Medicare plans as a blessing in disguise.

Hospital Indemnity

Hospital Indemnity Insurance is the type of health insurance that pays you a fixed sum per day, for up to a certain specified number of days spent in a hospital. The hospital stay can be for medical or other healthcare purposes such as acupuncture, ayurvedic treatment, etc. These kind of policies are ideal if you want to relax and rejuvenate – remember, such healthcare-related relaxation may not be covered by your existing health insurance plan

Long Term-Care

Long-term Care Insurance is the type of insurance that covers healthcare expenses incurred on nursing home care. Now, it is well known that nursing home care can cost up to thousands of Dollars every month, which is a reason why nursing home costs are usually not covered (they may be covered in a limited way though) in standard health insurance plan as well as in Medicare plans. This type of plan is beneficial to those who are sickness-prone or who have been diagnosed with a sickness that needs prolonged nursing home care.

These were some of the other types of health insurance plans available in the market. Before you buy a health insurance plan, speak to a health insurance expert, explain your requirement to him and settle for a plan that best fits in with your healthcare needs.

Guaranteed Issue

Guaranteed Issue Health Insurance means guaranteed acceptance regardless of Your pre-existing conditions. This means that we will accept you wether you are in good health condition or not. Most are guaranteed plans are for people who have applied for health insurance, but have been turned down. Read more here about our Guaranteed Issue Plans.

Dental Insurance

Atlanta Dental Plan is the one under which all your dental needs are covered. You will be surprised to know that dental discount plans are not insurance plans. Rather, it is like a dental discount "coupon", using which you get a pre-determined discount for dental care services. If your discount plan entitles you to a 30% off, then you will get that percentage off when you go in for regular dental check-ups or for cleaning to a dentist who is networked with the dental discount plan provider. You won't have to pay any premium for a dental discount plan – but you will have to shell out an enrollment fee and a small monthly fee, both of which when added together are lesser than the premium you might have to pay for a regular dental insurance plan. This is ideal for young people who just have to visit their dentist for routine work

Travel Insurance

These are the regular indemnity travel insurance plans that are bandied all over the place. They work like the traditional health insurance plans, and when you are covered by a regular plan, you will typically pay a monthly premium and get reimbursed for your travel insurance care expenditure. The amount of reimbursement can go as high as 100% of the bills. However, certain conditions may not be covered by your plan and there may be a waiting period for some conditions. If you are going in for this plan, then take an employer-backed plan instead of a regular one, as it will be cheaper. Oh, and don't forget to buy travel insurance coverage for your family too. These plans are ideal for middle-aged people with families
